This was a very boring sports weekend if you are a Ravens/Terps fan...haha! Ozzie Newsome and company answered the prayers of all Ravens fans Friday afternoon when they traded for Anquan Boldin, providing the wide receiver help Joe Flacco desperately needs. Boldin immediately becomes the number one receiver this team has lacked since they moved to Baltimore. If the Ravens are able to re-sign Derrick Mason, the receiving corps will finally be worth talking about. Boldin provides the YAC (yards after the catch) receiver this team has never had while Mason will continue to be the possession guy. Donte' Stallworth will be the deep threat that can stretch the field and Mark Clayton/draft pick/free agent signing will provide depth. Factor in Flacco's continuing development and Ray Rice becoming one of the better playmakers in the NFL with his 2009 performance, this offense might finally be able to take the next step that will make the Ravens serious contenders.
I can't finish without sending congratulations to the Maryland Terps. The Terps had a scare on Saturday afternoon against Virginia, but Greivis Vasquez put the team on his shoulders (again) and led Maryland to the victory which makes them tied for the regular season title in the ACC with Duke. The Terps will play on Friday night at 7pm against the winnner of Georgia Tech/North Carolina.
