The Terps kept within striking distance for first place in the ACC last night as they used a second half surge to defeat NC State 67-58. Trailing by 10 at halftime, Greivis Vasquez and Jordan Williams picked their games up to help Maryland outscore the Wolf Pack by 19 points in the last 20 minutes. Vasquez finished with 26 pts with 6 assists, while not committing one turnover in the second half. Williams finished with a career high 19 points. Maryland started the game slowly, which was to be expected as they were playing their third game in five days and playing on the road. However, Vasquez put the Terps on his back as he has done for most of the season to improve Maryland to an 8-3 conference record. Eric Hayes, Landon Milbourne, and Sean Mosely were quiet the entire contest which could hurt the Terps down the stretch. Luckily, Williams and Adrian Bowie provided to be other scoring options, but if Vasquez has an off-game, Maryland will be in trouble, unless the other three starters step up.
