Chicken Box Friday!
Bergesen tosses seven innings in a 7-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals to pick up his seventh win of the season. The 24-year-old right-hander leaves the game, however, after being struck in the left shin by Billy Butler's line drive. "Makes you sick to your stomach," Trembley said about Bergesen's injury. "It was a sight I'd rather not relive, and I don't really want to talk about it." After the game, the Orioles trade closer George Sherrill to the Los Angeles Dodgers for two prospects: third baseman Josh Bell and right-handed pitcher Steve Johnson.

Happy Chicken Box Friday!  Reading this morning about Brad Bergesen's injury is not the greatest news as we are only a few days away from pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training.  Bergesen injured his throwing shoulder while taping a commercial for the Orioles.  This is the second time in the last six months that Bergesen has had a run-in with an injury due to bad luck.  Bergesen missed the last two months of the 2009 season after taking a line drive off his shin.  Andy MacPhail and Bergesen both feel the injury is not a concern and Bergesen will only miss the first 10 days of spring training, but anytime there is an injury to a pitcher's throwing shoulder, it is cause for concern.  Bergesen is slated to be the third pitcher in the rotation this season, and when a young pitcher misses time during spring training as they are preparing for the long season, it is never good for their growth.  I am happy to read the optimism in MacPhail and Bergesen, but the second fluke injury to Bergesen in a 6-month span, could affect the first couple of months for Bergesen as he tries to get in "pitching shape."
