According to the Associated Press, the father of Virginia men's lacrosse coach Dom Starsia has passed away.. He was 86 years old.
Dominic Joseph Starsia had been in hospice care since February, the school said.
The deceased was a World War II veteran and a retired New York City police officer. He moved to Virginia in the late 1990s to be closer to his family, according to the school.
His death comes four days after a member of the Cavaliers' lacrosse team was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of a member of the women's lacrosse team. George Huguely was arrested Monday, hours after Yeardley Love's body was found.
Funeral services for Yeardley Love are today at 10am at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Burial is private.
